Gold Incense opens on incense from Oman, lifted by pink pepper and mandarin with a touch of coffee for bitterness. The resin never leaves, but violet, rose and jasmine drape it in something softer, patchouli leaves keeping the florals from turning powdery. Benzoin from Sumatra and vanilla pods finish it over white musk — balsamic, sweet and church-like at once. Incense for anyone who finds most incense too austere.
