Description
One of the older compositions in the house, and one of the most classical. Lemon, petitgrain and bergamot open it sharp, with galbanum and artemisia adding a green, bitter edge that keeps the citrus serious. Geranium, lavender and cloves make an aromatic heart — the shape of a traditional fougère, spiced. Then vetiver takes over, rooty and smoky, wrapped in amber, French labdanum, vanilla and benzoin. The amber is what makes it: it turns a dry vetiver into something warm and enveloping. Timeless rather than fashionable.
