Eau Ambrée

Description

Eau Ambrée is the amber of the house, and it takes its time getting there. Bergamot, lemon and neroli open it bright and clean — a conventional citrus start that gives no sign of the weight underneath. Rose and iris fill the heart, the iris powdery and cool, the rose restrained rather than jammy, so the flowers read classical instead of sweet. Then the base arrives: ambergris with leather and benzoin, warm, resinous and faintly animalic, the leather giving the amber an edge it would otherwise lack. Elegant, unhurried, and better on skin than on paper.
