Caput Mundi opens on cabreuva wood with Bulgarian rose, iris and lily-of-the-valley — flowers presented on wood rather than on citrus, which sets the tone immediately. Saffron, Indian oud, patchouli, sandalwood and orris build a heart that is spicy and resinous, the orris keeping a powdery coolness underneath. The base goes deeper still: ambergris, Cambodian oud, agarwood, cashmere wood and cedar. Formal, dense and unmistakably oriental, made for cold weather and long evenings.
